SOME of the best darts players in Australia came to Warwick at the weekend for the Inter-cities finals at St Mary’s Hall.

The weekend attracted 120 players and was hosted by the Premier Darts Association of Warwick.

Premier qualified for the women’s final and had early wins against West Moreton and Pine Rivers.

Kerri Edwards and Shelly Crummy were virtually unbeaten in singles for the Premier team.

Edwards plays for the Premier team after deciding to follow a darts dream by driving from Dalby to Warwick each week to play.

“Dalby doesn’t have a representative team. I did play with Kingaroy but now play with Premier,” Edwards said.

“They are a lovely bunch of people in Premier.”

The inter-cities competition is different to Adam and Eve as each game needs to start and finish with a double.

One of the top players in action at the weekend was Lorraine Burn, of Wynnum, who will play for Australia in Turkey in October.

She made her debut for Australia in the Asia Pacific Cup in Hong Kong last year when the Aussies were victorious.

Logan player Chrissy Sheerin was runner-up in the recent Pacific Masters in Perth and said she loved coming to Warwick to play darts.

BNSDC Season 2015 – Round 24

A GRADE – Full Ladder

Two Darts 11 v Dragons 10 – Game Stats

The Two Darts were in the unfamiliar position of being behind for almost the entire until they showed their real class and rattled off 4 wins from the last round of singles to win a very entertaining local derby. Pat with 4 wins and Matt with three 2-0 singles wins were the stars for 2D. Dragons were solid across the board with young Arthur Owen hitting his 2nd 180 in 2 weeks and Greg Lennon an 18-darter.

Javelins 13 v Panthers 8 – Game Stats

The Javelins enjoying the rarity of 7 players kept the lower order carousel going with a well earned victory over the Panthers. With the game in the balance at 5-4 the Javelins then hammered out 5 in a row led by Pete and Hugh to lead 10-5 going into the final round of singles which was too much for the Panthers to peg back.

Imports 15 v Vipers 6 – Game Stats

After some double trouble in the doubles the Vipers went behind 3-0 early which was soon to become 6-0. At 10-5 going into the last round they needed 6 from 6 wins but the Imports were just way too good on the night. John Rankine tried to re-design the score sheet with 19 tons including a 180 and a 16 dart leg. Jack the pick of the Vipers with 2 wins on the night.

Scorpions 19 v Ex Pats 2 – Game Stats

Yep, that’s not a typo. It was an under strength Ex Pats that met an on-fire Scorpions desperate to drag back some of that points difference conceded on the forfeit. Smashing out 61 tons in total they never looked troubled. Dave pegged 116, Scotty hit a 180 and an 18 darter and some guy called Daryl a 16 darter, nice one mate. Martin with 14 tons and Tristan with 13 threw well for the Ex Pats but the bearded burglar hit the doubles and took home 2 wins for the night.

B Grade – Full Ladder

Jockys 12 v Bulls 3 – Game Stats

The Jockys kept their substantial lead at the top of the table with another commanding performance to signal that their mid-season slump was only a glitch and normal service has been resumed. With 8 players in attendance the games, and honours were shared around although Derek did show he was human ending a decent winning streak. The under strength Bulls will bounce back this week for sure so look out Wanderers, don’t wear red.

Arrows 9 v Devils 6 – Game Stats

Arrows continue their rich vein of form with their 5th win on the trot and are now 4 points clear of the Tri-Hards. “Banz” was red hot with 6 tons and 3 circles. The Devils started well jumping to a 4-1 lead on the back of strong performances from Steve and Ash but met a team in clinical form.

Slashers2 10 v Wanderers 5 – Game Stats

Slashers 2 also made it 5 on the trot and with them schedule to play the Arrows this week only one team will have a 6 game winning streak. Without Rob at the helm the Slashers were a little slow out of the blocks but like Usain Bolt flashed home to collect the spoils and also sneak into the top 4.

Slashers1 9 v Tri-Hards 6 – Game Stats

With the game in the balance at 5-4 to the Slashers the last round of singles was going to be critical. It was Graham, Liam and then Corey who secured the victory. Corey and Nicky won all 3 of their matches hitting 2 and 7 tons respectively. Marty and Dean won 2 singles a piece for the visitors who now have to turn their form around against the table-topping Jockys.

BNSDC Season 2015 – Round 23

Round 23

Two Darts 13 vs Motley Crew 8 – Game Stats
Two Darts were once again down to five against the Motley Crew but eventually held on to win 13-8. Pat once again was relentless with three 2-0 singles victories. For the MC it was Richard who shone with 14 tons and new recruit Sam Batch who hit 7 tons including an opening 177.

Scorpions vs Panthers
A disappointing forfeit from the Scorpions has seen them concede top spot. Given the negative feedback (if not 3-4 months late), scheduling matches on Ekka Wednesday will likely not happen again but in every case where a team is struggling for numbers the preference is always to re-schedule to a date that suits both parties. However the Panthers were quite within their rights to claim a forfeit in this instance given the short notice, I know they would have preferred to have played.

Dragons 14 vs Vipers 7  – Game Stats
Dragons never really took their foot of the pedal against the Vipers winning every round to post a 14-7 victory. Arthur Owen was superb with 12 tons and 4 rings. For the Vipers Pas and Jack with 2 wins each led the way.

Javelins vs Imports – Game Stats
The Javelins and Imports enjoyed all the food at Gaythorne with the Imports holding out a five player Javelins 13-8. It was the John and Shane show with 24 tons and 8 wins between them. For the Javelins Pete was on fire with 13 tons and his only loss was a narrow 2-1 loss to Shane

BNSDC Season 2015 – Round 22

Round 22

A near full strength Two Darts were ruthless against the Vipers barnstorming to a 6-0 lead before eventually winning 17-4. Pat didn’t drop a leg and rarely gave his opponent a sight at a double whilst for the Vipers it was Jack Frost who starred with 2 wins. It would be remiss of me not to mention one of the biggest busts I have seen since I stumbled across my uncle’s porn collection. With 168 left captain Matt Knott set himself up perfectly with two triple 20’s and wanting a 16 or an 8 to leave a double rammed one right into the middle of the triple 16 … ouch.

Scorpions and Imports was neck and neck all night and with 2 singles left to play the league leaders led 10-9. It was the old and wise heads of Dave and Ant who led the Scorpions home with Dave’s 10 tons only surpassed by Brian’s dozen capped by 4 wins. For the Imports John Rankine didn’t drop a leg in his singles hitting 14 tons and two 18 darts games.

Motley Crew bounced back to beat the high flying Ex Pats 14-7. After going behind 3-0 the Crew did some soul searching and came out firing in the singles winning the next 8 games. Aaron and Richard led the charge with 3 singles wins each and for the Ex Pats a special thanks to Jane Fitzpatrick who filled in and by all accounts totally carried Mick in their doubles win.

A see-sawing match saw the lead change several times before the Dragons pulled through 11-10 against the Panthers. It was a solid team effort from the Dragons with Greg Lennon winning all his singles. For the Panthers Tamm starred with 12 tons and 2 singles wins.
