BNSDC – 2018 – Season 1 – Week 17

Premier League Grand Final

Strays vs Scorpions

Any final that fails to involve the Minor Premiers has to go down as a bit of a surprise but when you look at the quality in the Premier League generally, and this season’s top 4 in particular, you could not really rule out any combination as being a worthy Grand Final.  As it was Chermside played host the battle between the reigning champion Scorpions and a Strays side that has been improving season on season since they formed at the start of 2017.

The teams for the final were:
Strays: Dave, Jack, Ciaran & Banz
Scorpions: Brian M, Pat, Glen, Scotty & BA

Both opening games of doubles went to the deciding leg with the pairings of Dave & Jack and Glen & Scotty picking up wins for their sides.  These 4 players kept things going by winning their singles games in the first round to keep it locked up at 3-all.

The next round of singles saw Dave and Jack win again to push Strays ahead 5-3 and when Ciaran also got home he gave his side a 6-3 lead.  This was to be short lived as BA, showing real grit all night as the Scorpions singles specialist, narrowed the gap to two and then Scotty got them within one at 6-5.  Game 12 of the night put Dave up against Glen and from the first visit this was an absolute cracker.  Both players traded ton plus scores before Dave took out the first leg with 116 on double 18 for a 15 darter.  Glen hit straight back with a flurry of tons and a clean finish for a 17 darter to force a bull up and decider.  Dave threw first and maintained the high standard, taking the game in 19 darts. This seemed to be the turning point of the tie and a few games later Strays had opened up a 3 game lead at 9-6.

But nothing was easy at this stage of the match as the trebles and especially doubles seemed to be shrinking with every visit.  As it was it was Scorpions BA, Pat and Brian who held firm to level things up at 9-all with the doubles to come.  First up the pairing of Glen and Scotty gave Scorpions their first lead of the night but Ciaran and Banz were able to force the team game that this final really deserved.

After 14 weeks of league play and 2 weeks of finals it came down to sudden death 1001, four against four.  Strays started fast and all 4 of them hit a three-figure score to quickly opened up a sizable lead.   Scorpions were able to hold on but not really close the gap and when Banz was left with 24 points he was able to close it out with a dart into single 12 and then one into double 6.  It was over and their celebrations could begin.

Congratulations Strays, Premier League 2018 Season 1 champions and commiserations to Scorpions who came so close to going back-to-back.

Not only was this final decided by the narrowest of margins but an incredible 17 of the 20 regular games went to a deciding leg, all 4 of the doubles and 13 of 16 games of singles.  This was without a doubt the closest top flight final and a fitting end to a keenly contested season.

Finally, thanks to Pas, Aaron, Blags, Blades, Kingy, Gabe and Bob who came to watch and free the players up from chalking.

A GRADE Round 17 Full Ladder

Tossers 7 vs Scorpions “B” 14 Match Stats

A slow start for the B’s, despite losing all the doubles, kicked into gear winning 14 of 18 in the singles matches. A combined total of 55 ton+s thrown would indicate some really good darts all round. For the Scorpions, 3 wins each to John (6 ton+s), Shaun (3 tons) and Mick (6x tons). 2 wins and 9xton+ scores from Tristan while Grant added 2 wins and 5 big scores. The Tossers scooped the doubles however came up short in the singles matches despite some good darts. 2 wins each for Tracie (2 ton+s), Kiana (1 Ton), Alan (125) and Patrick (7 tons+ and 3×140’s).

Nemesis 11 vs Wildcats 10 Match Stats

A closely contended affair at the Brook saw the Nemesis just pip the Cats by 1 game. A slow start from the Nemesis team saw them down 7-2 after the first round of singles. But to their credit they fought back winning the 2nd & 3rd rounds of singles 9-3. Good effort that. For the Nems, 3 wins for Ian (6 tons) and 2 wins each for Ben (7 tons and a 140), Julie (1 ton), Neal (3 ton+s) and Brendan with 6x ton+s and a 140. A solid team effort. The Wildcats produced some good games with Lance winning 3 games (5 ton+ scores and a 105 peg). 2 wins each to Sharon (5 tons), Jen (2 ton+s), Nik (2 ton+s), Vickii (3 ton+s) and Gila. A very competitive match overall which could have gone either way, well done both teams.

Seagulls 14 vs Gremlins 7 Match Stats

A good night for the Seagulls here at the Brook tonight. Jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles, they were never headed after that. For the gulls, 4 wins to Gary (10 ton+ scores, a 120 peg out and an 18 dart leg), 3 wins each to Steve (5 ton+ scores) and Anthony (2 big scores). The Gremlins had an off night but 2 wins for Garry (3 ton+ scores) and Steve with a 17 dart leg and 4 tons, were the best on the night.

Nek Minit 9 vs Pinoy Darters 12 Match Stats

A preview to the final series saw Nek Minit and Pinoy face off at Chermside. Pinoys jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles, which proved to be the difference on the night, but had to battle hard to combat the ever-present Nek Minit team. For Pinoys, Roger lead the way with 4 wins (9 ton+ scores), Mel (7 ton+s) and Edgar (8 tons) both had 3 wins. High score for the Pinoy going to Bob with a 165. The Nek team really pushed hard in the singles with 3 wins for Shaun (10 ton+s and a 180), 2 wins each for Mark (5 big scores) and Daz (5 majors). Ben was on fire with 6 big scores and a 160. A tight match and both these teams will threaten in the finals.

Dragons 9 vs Javelins 12  Match Stats

Another close match saw the Jav’s getting over the line. 3 wins each for Peter (5 ton+s and a 180), Bryan (7 ton+ and 2x 140’s) and Luch (4 tons). With 5 ton+s and a 96 peg, Hugh was unlucky not to win 4 matches. For the Dragons, 4 wins for Connor including 3 tons and a 100 peg, led the way. Ben (4 ton=s), Rowie (3 ton+s) and Gavin (3 ton+s) all played well in support.

B GRADE Finals Week 2 Full Ladder

The Links 8 v Jockeys 7

Tonight we saw The Links and Jockeys fight off to see who would contest the Cannons in the Grand Final. True to form these long term rivals had a fierce competition right to the end, and we wouldn’t want it any other way! It was anyone’s game – and I’m sure everyone was holding their breath in the third round!

The Links started came out the gates firing, taking all 3 doubles wins – they were on a mission! They continued their stampede into the second round, but not until the Jockeys turned it around and won 6 straight singles to put them back in the game. Could they bring it home? Rupen took an important win in the third round, and all of a sudden, The Links only needed 1 more game to take the night and head to the GF. They’d have to work for it though, Ian, Gary and Clive took their wins in the third round in 2 legs so the Jockeys weren’t giving an inch! But it all game down to the last 2 games, Pieter v Brewster, and Antoinette v Patrick. Patrick took the win over Antoinette, so it was down to Pieter – and it even went down to the 3rd leg! But continuing his strong form throughout the season Pieter pegged it and The Links reign victorious!

Such a tight game though and the Jockey’s were right there!!!!

So now … the Cannons and The Links will meet once again for the GF. It’s bound to be a hell of a fight!

BNSDC – 2018 – Season 1 – Week 16

Premier League Finals Week 2

Last week’s PL playoff results mean that Scorpions host We’re On to see who takes the other spot in the Grand Final.

Scorpions vs We’re On

Even though We’re On claimed the Minor Premiership undefeated we should not forget that this Scorpions team, man for man, are the reigning champions after lifting the trophy last December.  Both sides have a great pedigree and are packed with top rep players not only from Norths but the other local dart leagues making this a mouth watering contest.

As with all PL fixtures this match started with two games of doubles and Scorpions picked them both up by a margin of two legs to nil but this was not to be the theme of the night however as 10 of the next 14 games had a bull up and last leg decider.  Early on it was Scorpions who got the best of these sudden death legs picking up the first two games of singles to go to a 4-0 lead.  We’re On started picking up wins but could only share the spoils over the next three rounds meaning Scorpions maintained their early advantage 8 games to 4.

Even with this lead it was far from over as a contest but We’re On really needed to start getting more wins on the board in a hurry.  As it was it was Scorpions who picked up the next two games and left the visitors needing a comeback for the ages.  They kept themselves alive in game 15 of the night and while Scorpions might not agree, it was a shame they never really got going.  In the end it was another sudden death decider that finished them off with BA hitting the winning double that put his side into the GF.

A GRADE Round 16 Full Ladder

Nemesis 5 vs Gremlins 16 Match Stats

It looks like the Gremlins were on song tonight. Jumping out to an 8-0 lead after the first singles, the task of fighting back for Nemesis proved too big. For the Gremlins, an all-round team performance was highlighted by 3 wins each for Garry (1 ton), Joe (5 tons+ and a 140) and Steve (5 tons and 2×140’s). Welcome back to Ian after his holidays. He produced 3 wins and 4 tons. For Nemesis, 2 wins for Neil (2 ton+) having an off night, 1 each for Ben (2 ton+), Julie (115) and Brendan (5 big scores). A late finish but enjoyable night.

Javelins 14 vs Wildcats 7 Match Stats

A solid win for the Javelins tonight with standout performances by Hugh with 4 wins (1 ton+), Peter with 3 wins (180, 4xton+s) and Tony with 4 wins, a 171 and 2x ton+ scores. All members contributed for the win, proving to be a competitive team most nights. For the Wildcats + 1, (I hope Lance dressed appropriately), a competitive game with standouts being Shaz (2 wins, 5 ton+ and a 140), Vanessa (3x ton+s, 140) and Vicki (121) chiming in for a 2 wins also. Lance stepped up to A Grade with 3 wins, 4 ton+ scores and a 140.

Nek Minit 6 vs Seagulls 15 Match Stats

This looked like an easy win for the Seagulls on paper but Nek Minit fought hard throughout. Up 7-2 after the first singles, the Gulls had to fight hard to cement the win. For the Seagulls, Christian had a 16 dart leg (good darts) 3 wins and 9 ton+ and a 140. 4 wins each for Gary (9xton+’s and 2×140’s) and Steve (5 ton+s and 3×140’s). Nigel (6 ton+ and 2×140) and Rudi (8 ton+ scores) added to the game score as well. For Nek Minit, 2 wins for Daz and 6 ton+ scores led the way while Mark smashed in 8 tons, Shaun, had a night on 20”s by the look of it, with 9 ton+s and 2×140’s. A tough night guys against a top team.

Scorpions “B” 12 vs Pinoy Darters 9 Match Stats

Against a depleted Pinoy tonight, Scorpions ran out winners tonight. For the Scorpions, 4 wins each for Grant (10 ton+s and 2×140) and Tristian (2 x 180, 6 ton+s). Top darts guys. John Ives chimed in with a very credible 2 wins, a 180 and 16 other ton+ scores. Shaun with 2 wins and 6x ton+s also fought hard. For the Pinot’s with only 5 players, gave it a good shake. The standouts were Mel with 4 wins and 12x ton+ scores and Roger, with 4 wins and a 16 dart leg, a 180 and 10 ton+ scores. Edgar worked hard with a 177, and 7x ton+s. Hard fought against the league leaders.

Dragons 7 vs Tossers 14  Match Stats

The Tossers proved too strong here tonight but had to battle hard for the win. 4 wins each for Patrick (13 ton+s and 2×140), Rob (2xtons) and Daniel (7 big scores). Kiana was on song with a 180, 100 and 3 wins. For the Dragons, 2 wins each for Ben (6 ton+s) and Mark (2 ton+ scores). This proved a hard fight for the Dragons losing all the doubles and having to chase from there on… good effort.

B GRADE Finals Week 1 Full Ladder

Cannons 8 v The Links 6

And here was the match we were waiting to see! The two teams who have battled out top spot on the ladder all season, and what a match we were treated to! The Cannons started out strong taking all 3 wins in the doubles – a serious start to a serious match! The Links were quick to answer back in their singles round though taking wins for the first 2 games to put them back in contention. Cannons would sneak back a win though by Tom’s hand, and then Ben would snatch another win for The Links. Jason and Mike helped the Cannons to finish strong though and all of a sudden Cannons were up 6 v 3. The Links had some heavy lifting to do and they didn’t shy away! Nicky, Yash and Rupen came out with a vengeance and put The Links back within shooting distance. The score was now 6 v 6 – dead heat!!!! First to 8 would take the win, and in the final cut-throat games, the Cannons would walk away victorious and score a comfy week off and the express train through to the finals. The Links will now battle the Jockeys for the right to face the Cannons in the grand final. Who will it be? The relatively newly formed Links, sharp shooters, savvy dart players? Or will it be the veteran Jockeys, with the steady hands and consistently strong performers? Stay tuned!

Jockeys 8 v Mitchelton Mustangs 7

Tonight the 3rd and 4th placed fought for their spot to remain in the finals and it certainly was the fight we were expecting – right down to the last game of the night. And who would have it any other way?! The Mustangs came out firing! 2 wins to them in the doubles round, and 3 wins in the singles it was certainly looking like they were on a roll. The Jockeys sure came back firing though with a neat one hundred and eiggghhhttty to Ian in the singles round and a solid 4 wins. It could’ve gone either way! Newty and Gary started the round with their wins, but Richo and Ian answered back with theirs, with Richo also scoring a nice 180! Clive took Peter S, and the game was drawn 7-7. All down to the final game between Brewster and Chris – it would’ve been “sitting on the edge of your seat” stuff! And the Jockeys walked away with the win. Credit to both sides for such a hot fight right to the end and rising to the occasion – what a ripper of a final’s game! All the best to the Jockeys who will now face The Links to see who will face the Cannons in the B Grade Grand Final!

BNSDC – 2018 – Season 1 – Week 15

Premier League Finals Week 1

After 14 weeks of league games you hope to have good contests in the knockout stages and these two certainly lived up to that billing.  First…

We’re On vs Strays

We’re On, the minor premiers, took on second place Strays at Chermside with a spot in the Grand Final for the winners and a second chance for the loser of this game.

We’re On got off to the perfect start in a couple of pretty scrappy doubles encounters but Strays soon dragged it back to 3-all.  The sides traded blows until Strays grabbed two in a row to move to a slender 8-6 lead.  This lead was short lived and We’re On hit straight back to get level at 8-all and when it went to 9-all it seemed as if it was going to take the team game to separate the two sides.

Strays took the first reverse doubles 2-1 in a game that had a couple of lulls but featured a memorable passage where the teams traded 5 consecutive ton plus visits.  With the score at 10-9 Dave and Frosty took the first leg of their match and had a decent lead in the second but Aaron and Pas dug deep to level it up and take the game into a deciding leg.  You would not have bet against this going all the way to a 21st game but Dave won it by pinning double 1 meaning Strays take the victory 11 games to 9 and progress to their maiden Grand Final.

Marshy, Dave & Ciaran had the best record on the night, each winning 1 doubles and 3 singles. Not all personal achievements were recorded but I remember Horse hitting a 150 peg as well as maximums from Dave, Ciaran, Banz and Marshy, who also hit a 17 darter.

Finally, thanks to Kingy and Blades for coming down to chalk and watch.

Scorpions vs Dragoffs

The other semi-final was a straight knock out with the winners progressing to a final elimination game against We’re On.

It has to be said that hese two teams are stacked with top BNSDC players making this a very worthy semi final.  Scorpions started off strongest by picking up both games of doubles and then maintaining this two game advantage until the score reached 5-3.  Dragoffs scrapped hard and got level at 5-all and 6-all but they were never able to get their noses in front.

Close contests are won by narrow margins and a key moment seems to have been the last game of singles which went to the deciding leg.  Scotty picked it up which gave the Scorps a 10-8 lead instead of it being 9-all with reverse double to come. This lead gave them two chances to get home but one was all that was needed as the power pairing of Heals and The Machine won their doubles 2 legs to 0 giving Scorpions the 11-8 victory and a showdown against We’re On next week at Chermside.

The most dominant individual performance of the night came from Max, who won 4 out of 4 singles, with other high spots coming from Heals with a 130 peg and Gabe who checked out 112.

A GRADE Round 15 Full Ladder

Dragons 10 vs Gremlins 11 Match Stats

What a great night of darts with both teams all but sharing the spoils. It proved to be 1 game of doubles that would be the difference between two evenly matched teams on the night. For the Dragons, 3 wins apiece for Ash (10 ton+’s), and Mark (1 ton). For Gremlins, 4 wins for Steve (9 ton+ scores) and a 140 peg out while Joe smashed a 180, well done guys. Consequently it all came down to the last game of the night to decide the match. Great job doing the book for dragons by Dave.

Javelins 11 vs Nemesis 10 Match Stats

Another tight match tonight being decided in the last couple of singles games. The Javelins getting across the line with vital wins in leg 5, to even it up, then Tony edging out Ian in the last game to secure the win. For the Jav’s, games were fairly evenly shared across the night. 3 wins for Max (4 ton+ scores), 2 wins each for Bryan (6 big scores) and Peter (6 ton+ scores as well). For Nemesis, 3 wins for Ian (6 ton+’s), Neil (4 ton+’s), Don (4 ton+’s). Brendan and Ben chimed in with 9 & 7 ton+’s respectively.

Wildcats 6 vs Nek Minit 15 Match Stats

A win by Nek Minit at the Brook, aided by a quick start leading by 3-0 after the doubles. A pretty even affair after that, until the final singles matches. A 5-1 result here secured the win, which looked comfortable on paper, but was a well fought out battle. For the Nek team, 3 wins each to Mark (18 dart leg and 4 tons), Shaun (2×140’s), Ben (5 big scores), Danny (4 tons) and Hilton (2 ton+’s). For the Wildcats, 3 wins for Kylie (6 ton+ scores), Shaz with 2 wins and 3 ton+ scores. Ness and Nikki kept NM honest with strong games.

Seagulls 6 vs Scorpions “B” Match Stats

A substantial win, on paper, by the Scorpions tonight secured them clear at the top of the ladder. It would appear that all the B’s fired up in the second round of singles winning 5 of 6 to ensure the win. John Ives had a night out with 2×180’s, 13 & 16 dart legs, 11 other ton+ scores and, of course, 4 wins. Great darts. 3 wins each for John Hill (2 ton+’s) Grant (12 ton+ scores) and Joe (7 big scores).Tristian had an 18 dart leg along with 9x ton+ scores. For the Gulls, although the score sheet looked sparse, fought hard to battle it out with an outstanding opponent tonight. Two wins for Nigel and 12 ton+ scores led the way supported by Drew (5 big scores) and Gary with 7 ton+’s. Still in the hunt as the finals are approaching.

Pinoy Darters 11 vs Tossers 10  Match Stats

And yet another nail biter this week, all the more remarkable as Pinoys were down to only 5 players. Once again the solitary extra win in doubles was to prove the difference in the end score. The singles shared 9 apiece. For Pinoys, 4 wins each for Roger (10 ton+’s) Leo (9 ton+ scores). 3 wins for Bob (3 ton+’s). For the Tossers, 3 wins for Patrick (6 ton+ scores and an 18 dart leg) Rob (5 ton+s). Daniel chimed in with 8 big scores.

B GRADE Round 15 Full Ladder

Wanderers 4 v Cannons 11 Match Stats

With the end of the minor premiership upon us, Number 1 and Number 5 on the ladder faced off for a final showdown. The Cannons had a great night, with a stunning 180 scored by Alan Mitchell, who also backed it up with 3 wins on the night – way to go Alan! The Cannons were consistently sharp in their scoring and it showed. The Wanderers made sure to make them fight for it though, taking 4 wins off the Cannons and another 3 games went to the final leg so no one was letting the Cannons storm away with it. But credit to the Cannons for a great season and lifting the competition in B Grade!

Jockeys v The Links Match Stats

Forfeit win for The Links

BNSDC – 2018 – Season 1 – Week 14

Premier League Round 14 Full Ladder

Dragoffs 8 vs Scorpions 12 Match Stats

This was a dress rehearsal for the first week of the finals but, while the teams will be the same, there’s a chance the personnel will be different so it’s hard to read too much into the result.  Saying that the Scorpions would be happy to finish the season with a win and this was thanks in no small part to their prowess in the doubles games which they won 4 games to nil with the singles games working out as an 8-all draw.

Three Dragoffs stood out with Max (2 14s, a 17 darter and a 125 peg) and Carlos (3 140s and a 17 darter) winning three times and Blags (2 140s, a 180 and a 17 darter) twice.

A steady all round performance from Scorpions with three players picking up 4 wins apiece: Heals hit 4 140s and a 180; Brian 4 140s and Bobby a 180.  Scotty showed how dangerous he can be with three wins with a score of 140, a peg of 141 and a 15 darter.

We’re On 13 vs Imports 7 Match Stats

We’re On finish the season undefeated with a tidy 13-7 victory over Imports.

Wins across the board for the visitors with Shane (2 140s) just edging it with 3.  Everyone else won twice.  Along the way Nev hit 3 140s, Richard 1 140 and James a 171.

Two of the WO towered over this contest winning 6 from 6 and each hitting the quadrella of 14, 180, high peg and low game: Horse’s was 5 140s, a 180, a 108 peg plus low games of 15 and 18 darts and Marshy’s 4 140s, a 180, and 18 darter and a 108 peg as well.  Great darts!

Peeping Toms 12 vs Motley Mustangs 8 Match Stats

All 5 Toms got a run out for their last game of season 1 with everyone chipping in to ensure they ended with a win.  Ross (3 140s, an 18 darter) and Sam (2 140s) won 4 times each, once in their doubles partnership and in each of their three singles.  Also worth a mention was Kingy who won 3 times and hit 4 140.

Mick (4 140s) and Stephen (2 140s) went unbeaten as a doubles partnership and picked up a pair of singles circles each to finish with 4 wins each on the night.  The other highlight of the night was when Bruce took out 106.

Strays 9 vs Raptors 11 Match Stats

Finally, at the last attempt, Raptors did what they have threatened for much of the season and closed out a win against a higher placed side.  Once again this went to the last game but this time they were able to close out a well fought win.

Corey’s performance was absolutely magnificent and probably the best we’ve seen this season.  As well as winning 6 wins from 6, he hit 9 140s, a 180, a 171 and two low games.  On top of these achievements he was also winner in what has to be the game of the season when he took on Frosty.  Both players traded ton plus scores with Corey winning the first leg in an equal season best of 13 darts.  Frosty hit back with a 17 darter and then had a dart at the bullseye for a 12 darter in the decider.  It wasn’t to be and Corey took the game in 15 darts.  The winning averages of those 3 legs (13, 17 and 15 darts) works out at a fraction over a hundred which is exceptional.  Well played to both!

Blades also threw really well with 4 wins, 3 140s and a 180.  A welcome return to BNSDC for Liam who chipped in with some vital big scores in his partnership with Corey which made all the difference to the result.

For Strays Frosty (6 140s and that 17 darter) won 4 times, Dave (5 140s and a 180) won 3 times and Ciaran (3 140s and a 180) won twice.

Two standouts for the Dragons tonight in Paula & Connor both firing in 7 tons and a 140 each. 5 other games went the distance and could have produced a different score line.

Seagulls 15 vs Wildcats 6 Match Stats

A solid win for the Gulls here with Christian, 9 and Nigel, 8, topping the ton count.3 wins for Gary and 6 ton+ scores. Rudi chimed in with a 102 peg out. Statistically the score sheet reflected an even contribution across the team.

The Wildcats battled hard and with 5 games going the distance, the result may have been different at the end of the night. 2 wins each for Kylie, 5 ton+s and Sharron with 4 big scores, while Nicki was gallant with 8 ton+ scores.

Tossers 12 vs Nemesis 9 Match Stats

The Tossers ran out winners here tonight with Rob leading the way with 4 wins and 12 ton+ scores. Kiana with 3 wins and 2 ton+s. 2 wins for Patrick, 8 ton+ and Daniel with7 big scores. A good win.

B GRADE Round 14 Full Ladder

Wanderers 4 v Mitchelton Mustangs 11 Match Stats

What a great night! So many of the games went to 3 legs, it was great to see these teams really fight it out. Although the score shows the Mustangs had a terrific night, only 2 games went down in 2 legs – well done to both sides for a great competition. It was even stevens until the 3rd round, and the Mustangs came out firing and took all games in the 3rd round to take the win for the night. It’s really encouraging to see each game go to the 3rd leg though, it was anyone’s for the taking. Solid scoring from both teams – Wanderers Captain Snow Royal had a solid performance with 3 ton plus scores and 2 wins proving the doubles combo of himself and Tim to be strong alliance. Lindsey had a great night on the tonnes – a 140 and three ton plus scores and 3 wins. Unfortunately this does leave the Wanderers on the bottom of the table, as hot contenders for the wooden spoon and the Mustangs securely in 4th place in B Grade, but great night had by all and awesome to see the Wanderers fight for the win.

Cannons 12 v Jockys 3 Match Stats

Well top placed Cannons came out rearing to defend their position at the top of the ladder, and what a great job they did. The Cannons had a great performance – every team member took a game win on the night and special shout out to Mike with 2 wins, a 140 and 6 tonnes, Graham with 3 wins and 4 tonnes, Jason with 2 wins and 3 ton plus scores. Jockeys also had some fierce shooters on their side – Newty with a solid two 140s, 3 tonnes and 2 wins and Thommo with 4 ton plus scores, greatly helping take the fight to the Cannons. Had the Jockeys taken this night, they would’ve joined The Links and the Cannons sharing top place in B Grade, but unfortunately they just missed out. Cannons go on to take 1st place now on a solid 16 points, however the next round will be the telling of final places and overall winner of the minor premiership. Will it be the Cannons? or will The Links take another win to join them in top spot?

* Scoresheet not yet received from the Jockeys, results to be confirmed

We’re On 13 vs Scorpions 7 Match Stats

Congratulations to We’re On as this win confirms them as Season 1 20118 Premier League Minor Premiers.  It also means that Scorpions will finish in the third spot on the ladder with one game to come courtesy of their superior leg difference over Dragoffs.

This was a good quality game from both sides with 4 ton plus pegs, 5 low games, 25 140s and 3 180s thrown between the two teams.  For the visitors Scotty (5 140s and a 102 peg) and Heals (4 140s) had the best of it with three wins each but mentions to BA who hit an 18 darter and a 120 peg and Glen for his 114 checkout.

There were two five time winners on the WO side of the sheet, Pas, who hit a 17 darter, and Horse who had a big nigh featuring 2 140s, a 180 and low games of 16 and 17 darts.  Aaron W put a tick in each box with 3 140s, a 180, a 140 peg and an 18 darter with Marshy hitting 3 140s and a 180 in amongst his 3 wins.

Dragoffs 13 vs Motley Mustangs 7 Match Stats

The Motleys were competitive throughout this one with Dragoffs finally putting the result away by winning 3 of the last 4 games to move from 10-6 up to 13-7 victors. Of the 20 games played 11 went to the deciding leg and the difference on the night was that Dragoffs won this contest within a contest 7-4.  Dragoffs were already assured of 4th spot on the ladder and the finals spot that comes with it but this defeat for the visitors keeps them in the thick of it at the other end of the table.

Max the pick for Dragoffs with 5 wins, 3 140s, a 120 peg and a 15 darter but Carlos (4 140s) also picked up 5 circles on the night. Gabe won 4 times, hitting 3 140s, and Blags won 3 with 3 140s and a 144 peg to his name.

Super scoring from Glen who hit 3 maximums and a 140, winning two from three games of singles.  Stephen also won two out of his three singles hitting 3 140s and a 180.  Mick was the other 2 time winner for MM.

Raptors 10 vs Peeping Toms 10 Match Stats

When news of another Raptors tie reached us we immediately dispatched the BNSDC Crime and Corruption committee to Wantima to perform a full investigation.  No betting irregularities were uncovered and interviews with the players failed to turn up anything untoward and so the result stands.  This season has seen both of the performances of both of these teams moving in the right direction and it’s easy to imagine them contending for a finals spot next year.

As you would expect from the line up of these teams two names stand out, one from each side and hardly anything to choose between them.  Corey with 5 wins a 140 & two 180s, and Ross 5 wins, two 140s and two 180s.  Given that Corey won their head to head, and all 4 of his singles, it’s probably fair to give him the nod.

Another decent run out for Kingy with four wins, a 174 and an 18 darter and Sam winning 3 times and hitting scores of 140 and 160.  Hopefully the seagull was treated well and didn’t get into the sandwiches.

For Raptors Blades (1 140) won 3 and Dinga (1 140 and a 180) won twice.

Imports 5 vs Strays 15 Match Stats

This win, coupled with Scorpions’ loss, means that Strays are locked into second place for the finals.

Richard king of the imports with 3 wins, 3 140s and an 18 darter with one win each for Matt, Nev (5 140s and a 180) and James, who hit 3 140s but was hitting the treble 20 so often that he couldn’t have been far off a much better night.

None better than Frosty with 6 wins from 6 but Ciaran not far behind with 5 wins (1 doubles and all 4 singles) with a 140 and a 16 darter to his name.  Dave won 4 times and hit 3 140s and an 18 darter.

A GRADE Round 13 Full Ladder

Scorpions “B” 16 vs Gremlins 5 Match Stats

Two teams with an abundance of players met up at West Mitchy tonight. No doubt the Scorpions had the better players on the night.

The Scorpions jumped out of the gate with a whitewash in the doubles, only losing 1 leg along the way. This form continued until the 5th and 6th singles and even then those games went to three. 5-1 and 4-2 in the remaining singles well and truly overwhelmed the Gremlins. John had 4 wins (2-0), 10 high scores and a 17 dart leg. Great darts mate. Tristan followed suit with 4 wins (2-0) and 6 ton+ scores. Mick and Shaun pitched in with 3 wins with 14 ton +s between them. Shaun also had the high score of the night with a 160. Solid win guys.

Gremlins were out classed here and have some work to do to avoid relegation. Of the five games won, all were 2-1 results and could have resulted in a worse scenario. Jack was the only star for the Gremlins with 3 wins and 7 ton+ scores. Terry and Peter had a win each and missed another one each going down 2-1 in those. Mark seems to have warmed to his new darts and scored 4 tons, a 120 and 140. Well done Mark. Work to do all round boys.

Nek Minit 9 vs Javelins 12 Match Stats

The Javelins and Nek’s had a close result here on paper but the Jav’s winning 8 matches 2-0 was a telling stat. Going ahead 2-1 after the doubles then 7-2 after the first singles proved a mountain too high for the NM team. An overall team contribution was evident with all players contributing with wins. Max, 5 tons, and Bryan, 8 big scores, each had 3 wins. Peter chimed in on the high scoring with 10 ton+ scores while Keith had the high score of the night with a credible 165. Good win there.

Nek Minit started slowly tonight and couldn’t quite recover from 10-5 down going into the last singles. Daz had 3 wins and a 2-1 loss on the night to lead the stats all around, and 5 tons to boot. Shaun, 8 ton+ scores, and Ben, 5 ton+ scores, chipped in with 2 wins a piece. A close result on paper, as I said, but they will need to be tighter as they close in on the finals.

Seagulls 13 v Pinoy Darters 8 Match Stats

The Seagulls looked to be soaring after the first singles going up 7-2 but had to consolidate with a fight back by the Pinoy in the latter stages. 3 wins each for Gary, 12 ton+s, and Nigel, 11 straight tons. 2 wins each for Christian, 6 big scores, Steve, 10 ton+s, and Rudi with 7 high scores as well. A great last singles set 4-2 ensured the Gulls will be there at seasons end.

For the Pinoy Darters, a very slow start to proceedings and down by a lot, early on. 3 wins for Edgar and 11 ton+ scores shone for the team tonight. 2 wins each for Roger, 12 big scores, and Mel with 8 ton+s. With 6 games going against them 2-1, it could have been a better result guys. I am sure the team will be competitive at the business end of the season.

Dragons 9 vs Nemesis 12 Match Stats

This match looked fairly close on paper between 2 teams with similar stats on the night. But Nemesis took home the cookies.

For Nemesis the first singles round gave them the edge to a successful night. With Neal leading the way with 4 wins on the night and 7 ton+ scores, Ian chimed in with 2 wins and 2 near wins/losses 2-1, and knocking out 8 big scores to boot. 2 wins each for Ben, 3 ton+ scores and Don with a 140 score. A close encounter overall.

For the Dragons, a determined battle that may have given a different result after being edged out early on 6-3 down after the first singles. Games were shared in the next two rounds and it would mean that the difference was the first singles round and a 2-1 doubles loss. Ash Harden, not known to me or the player register apparently, bashed out 4 wins and 5 ton+ scores.  2 wins a piece for Connor, 8 ton+s and Gav, 4 ton+s, while David with 2 big scores of 132 and a credible night high score of 171 was not to be denied. Good darts Rowie.

Wildcats 9 vs Tossers 12 Match Stats

Another close encounter at the Brook saw the Tossers take home the prize. Once again this week, we see a big difference after the first singles, with the Tossers taking a 7-2 lead into the remainder of the match. This would prove to be the difference that ultimately decided the match.

For the Tossers, 4 wins each for Patrick, 12 ton+ scores and Rob with 9 tons. Daniel jumped in with 2 wins and 7 big scores. These were enough to secure the win against a never say die Wildcats team.

For the Cats, 4 wins for Sharon and with 3 big scores, led the way. 2 wins a piece for Kylie, 7 ton+s, Nikita with 4 big scores as well. A good team effort but denied again, but only just. Good games.

B GRADE Round 13 Full Ladder

Cannons 9 vs The Links 6 Match Stats

The two top ranked B Grade teams faced off again, and who would take the win this time? Cannons came out ready to prove themselves and took all 3 doubles games straight up. They weren’t mucking around. The Links tried to answer back in the second round but could only take 2 games off the determined Cannons. They’d come back stronger in the third round with 4 games but it wasn’t enough to take the Cannons down. Cannons reigned victorious over The Links sharpshooters, and now join them at the top of the ladder both on 14 points each. Who’s going to take the coveted minor premiership? Not many rounds left to go.

Mitchelton Mustangs 7 vs Jockys 8 Match Stats

Nothing like an 8 v 7 game to keep you on the edge of your seats! This game could’ve gone either way. The Jockeys started off well, taking 2 of the doubles wins in the first round, and going on to take another 3 games in the second. The Mustangs would fight back though to keep in it, with a 5 v 4 lead to the Jockeys going into the third round. Jockeys would take the first two games, but Mustangs answered back, taking the win on that last game the Jockeys would need to take the night. Wouldn’t be much further into the round though and the Jockeys scored their 8th game for the night, and another nail biting win for the team. Strong performances from the Mustangs though on the ton count, with 13 ton plus scores for the team. Jockeys were just too strong on the night.
