BNSDC – 2018 – Week 22

Premier League Season 2 Round 5 Full Ladder

Five weeks in and this is shaping up to be the tightest PL season ever with only 3 points separating the middle 4 teams.

Bears 7 vs Peeping Toms 13 Match Stats

These teams met with 5 league points each in the bag and the closeness on the ladder was matched by the closeness of the early exchanges.  The doubles were split and so it went until it got to 5-all at the half way stage.  At this point Toms put their foot down and peeled off 7 from 8 to take the points.

This is the result that the Toms have been building to but it really lays down an early season marker for them as finals contenders.

Over to the individual performances and for Bears Horse and Azza (2 140s) picked up 4 wins each with Pas hitting 4 140s.  The visitors had a great team performance with Sam leading the way with 5 wins, a 140, 2 180s and a 171 with Ross (2 140s, a 17 darter) winning 4 times.  Three wins each for Kingy (4 140s, a 180) and Chris (a 140 and a 174).

Dragoffs 8 vs Strays 12 Match Stats

This game saw the return of Dave and the end of Greg’s excellent early season cameo. Strays took the doubles and maintained this two game cushion all the way to 8-6 up and the last round of singles.  With all results still possible the visitors made the decisive move and took 3 from 4 to move to 11 and secure the 2 league points.

Not much sign of rust from Dave who won 5 from 6, hit 4 140s and and 18 darter with five wins also from Frosty (3 140s).  Ciaran (2 140s a 180) won 3 times and Banz hit a 128 peg on the bull.

For Dragoffs there were three wins each for Richard (4 140s, 18 darter) and Gabe (1 140) and two for Max (1 180).  Impressive finishing also on display from Richard and Gabe who clinched a win each in style with a ton plus checkout, Richard with a beautiful 160 and Gabe with a very handy 106 with his opponent sat on a double.

Imports 11 vs Raptors 9 Match Stats

Imports welcomed Jamil back into the team and the new-look lineup got off to the perfect start by edging to victory against North’s nailbiter specialists Raptors.

This one was neck and neck to 5-all when Raptors pulled clear by taking 3 from 4.  This lead was short lived as Imports hit straight back with a 3 from 4 round of their own to take it to 9-all with the reverse doubles to come.  Imports took the first one and, with the second at 1-all in the final game it must have seemed as if a draw was inevitable.  Shane and James were happy to tear up the script and grab two league points for Imports.

The numbers (“only” 4 140s, 2 180s and 108 peg) suggest Corey wasn’t at his sparkling best but he still went home with 5 wins including all 4 of his singles for the loss of just one leg, and there were three wins for Dinga and two from Wayne.  Wins across the board for Imports with Shane (3 140s, a 116 peg and a 15 darter) leading the way with four and three from Nev (2 140s).  Underlining that this was a real team effort is the fact that the remaining three players all picked up two wins each with James’ 3 140s just pushing him a head of Jamil and Daral.

Scorpions 13 vs Motley Mustangs 7 Match Stats

Scorpions too strong for Mustangs as a well-rounded team performance saw them get home 13 games to 7.  This wasn’t a cruise to victory by any means though and with the game at 8-6 the door was slightly ajar.  It was slammed shut when Scorps took 3 of the next 4 to get to the 11 games which secured the win.

Brian M on song with 5 wins plus the quadrella of 5 140s, a 180, a 115 peg and low games of 17 darts, and 18 twice.  Four wins each for the rest of the team namely, Scotty (5 140s, 18 darter), BA (4 140s and a 106 peg) and Glen (4 140s).

Standing strong with three wins each were Mick (3 140s) and Willy (3 140s and low games of 18 & 16 darts) with maximums from Steve and Glen, who also hit a 17 darter.

A GRADE Season 2 Round 1

We are back A Grade – season 2 opening round. Welcome to the new teams and/or new team names. All the best for the season.

Seagulls 12 v Scorpions 9 Match Stats

To kick us off we had the grand final rematch at the new venue – Gaythorne RSL. Of course a close encounter between these two teams. 1 extra doubles win and 2 more singles wins in the second round saw the Seagulls only needing 2 wins in the last singles to take the cookies – and this they did. For the Scorpions, Grant was on song with 3 wins and 10 big scores. John also had 3 wins and 6 tons. 2 wins each for Daryl (4 tons) and Joe (2 big scores). For the Seagulls, Nigel with 3 wins and 14 ton+ scores led the way. 3 wins for Gary (8 big scores) and Steve with 2 wins (8 biggies). Overall, a fairly close contest on paper, to start the season.

Nek Minit 15 v Cannons 6 Match Stats

Nek Minit could only field 5 players for the season opener, but still managed a comfortable win despite losing all the doubles matches.3 wins for Shaun (6 big scores) and 2 each for all the other players. 7 ton+ scores for Mark and 5 for Danny were the standout stats. Good effort with 1 player short. Welcome to A Grade Cannons, and by the looks of the scores, we can expect some good results from your team. Leading the way on the night was Mike with 3 wins (11 ton+s and a 146 peg out). 2 wins for Graham (3 ton+). A good effort against a tough outfit in Nek Minit.

Javelins 9 v The Marvels 12 Match Stats

Welcome to a new team name, Marvels, but with familiar players. With the outcome almost sealed for the Marvels after the second singles, the Jav’s fought back to make a close game of it. For the Marvels, 3 wins a piece for Ian (4 ton+), Neal (1 ton+) and Corey (3 ton+). Nikki chimed in with 2 wins and a ton to boot. Ben (4 tons) sealed the win in the fourth singles of the last round. For the Jav’s, 3 wins each to Bryan (7 big scores) and Max (2 ton+). A great fight back in the final singles showed how dangerous this team can be. Good game.

Tossers 10 v Gremlins 11 Match Stats

A long night for the two teams with the result decided by a solitary game. Those wins in the doubles really are like gold. A nail biter in the final game, coming down to a 2-1 result in favour of the Gremlins. 3 wins each to Terry (3 ton+), Steve (12 ton+). 2 wins each for Alex (2 ton+), Jack (4 tons). A good team effort. For the Tossers, a tough result but one that could have gone either way. 4 wins for Tony (5 ton+). 3 wins for Pat (7 ton+). 2 wins each for Mark (5 tons), and Ben (5 ton+). A good solid contest and a great way to start the season.

Pinoy Darters v BYE

By the looks of the results from the first round, we may be in for a tight competition this season. All the best to all teams.

B GRADE Season 2 Week 4 Full Ladder

The Links 10 v Misfits 5 Match Stats

The Links were all set to face The Misfits on Home ground and feeling confident with the return of their heavy hitter Nicky back fresh from a much needed holiday in South Africa, welcome back! The doubles rounds opened up fiercely for the links taking all three match ups for a solid three win lead heading into the singles. The Misfits however were going to show the links that were not taking that lying down with Mark, Leo and Michael all securing wins and the Links pushed back hard drawing three wins also in the first singles set with Yash, Harsh and Ben taking wins to hold the match at 6 to 3 at the end of the first singles. In the end the Links proved too solid and secured another four wins in the last round to close the match. A solid performance from both teams with plenty of tons flying the highest score on the night went to Ben from the Links with a monster of 132 well done.

Dragons 10 v Jockys 5 Match Stats

The Dragons faced off against The Jockeys at Chermside for round 4. The Dragons opened up the scoring bank in the doubles with two wins to find they had been denied access with The Jockeys securing 5 wins in the first singles. A valiant defense from Gavin of the Dragons stopped a clean sweep in the first singles for the Jockeys. The second round of singles saw the Dragons fire up with Gavin and Paula taking the first wins of the round, however the Jockeys proved too strong and took the rest of the round. Well done both teams and congrats to Josh from the jockeys with a 106 peg out!

Wanderers 6 v Mustangs 9 Match Stats

The G, no not the Gabba! The Gaythorne RSL! Our scene for tonight’s match.
The Mustangs bolted through the gate early taking all the doubles wins to be up 3 nil at the beginning of the first singles only to be reigned in by the Wanderers who fought back three wins to start the last round trailing by three and hunting the Mustangs in the last round. The Wanderers took three more wins only to find The Mustangs galloping home in the end of the last round taking back 3 wins to win the night with solid performances by Richard, Graham and Lindsay to end the night. Well done Mustangs! A great match!

BNSDC – 2018 – Week 21

A GRADE Season 1 Grand Final

Scorpions “B” 11 v Seagulls 8

What a fitting end to Season 1 with the top 2 teams putting their skills to the test in the Grand Final. It appeared that the Scorpions would go into the match as favourites, having virtually swept all and sundry aside during the regular season. However the Seagulls proved to be the most likely to topple the Scorpions.

The teams were only separated by a single win going into the final singles round. Both teams had opportunities which inevitably would seal the deal for the player who made the most of those fleeting chances.

After three and a half hours, a victory was claimed with a few games remaining. The ultimate result read 11-8. No doubt, as the last few games progressed, the remaining players looked on anxiously, secretly hoping that the result would not depend on their game. The tension was evident and all players from both teams are congratulated for their efforts on the night.

A great performance for the season by the runners up and worthy opponents.

Congratulations, and the Title of A Grade – 2018 – Season 1 Champions goes to:-

The Scorpions B Team.

Bring on Season 2!!

Premier League Season 2 Round 4 Full Ladder

Dragoffs 12 vs Bears 8 Match Stats

This result was really in the balance at 6-all before Bears got over the line by taking 5 of the last 6 games of singles.

Max doing what Max does with 5 wins and 6 140s with 3 wins and 2 140s with Matt hitting a 180.  Azza looking sharp with 5 wins, 4 140s and a 180 with 3 wins each for Horse, Pas and Shaz, who knocked in a 128 peg.

Imports 5 vs Peeping Toms 15 Match Stats

Toms keep themselves in second spot with this win although other results keep things tight at the top.  On the night Toms went off fast and kept their foot down all the way to the finishing line.

Shane (3 wins, 3 140s) and Daral (2 wins) doing best for Imports.

Ross won 6 from 6 and hit 5 140s with Kingy (3 140s), Sam (2 140s) and Chris winning 4 times each.

Strays 11 vs Scorpions 9 Match Stats

The last few meetings between these teams have been high quality nail-biters and this one was no different.  Rather than being the usual tit-for-tat encounter this one saw Strays power to a 6-2 lead which they held until the scores reached 10-6.  From there Scorpions applied some pressure to get it back to 10-8 but Greg and Frosty held firm to grab the points.

Greg once again top of the heap with 6 wins, 4 180s, 3 140s and low games of 14 and 18 darts.  Frosty also going well wit 4 wins, 5 140s and a 16 darter.  Ciaran also hit 5 140s, won 2 singles and hit an 18 darter.

Scorpions spread their wins around with Scotty (3 140s) taking four, Brian (4 140s, a 180, an 18 darter) three and two each for both Glen (4 140s, a 180) and Bobby (5 140s, a 16 darter).

Raptors 14 vs Motley Mustangs 6 Match Stats

Apologies if this result has been misfiled but I can’t seem to find it.  Could I ask the skippers to resend please?

B GRADE Season 2 Week 3 Full Ladder

Wanderers 9 v Dragons 6 Match Stats

Competition has certainly become fierce in B Grade. Wanderers faced off Dragons for the first time this season and were greeted with some serious darts. Wanderers kicked off to an early lead with 2 doubles wins, and continued their winning streak into the second round by taking the first three wins. The Dragons weren’t letting much past them though, securing a solid doubles win, and 2 wins in the second round to keep them in the game. The Wanderers were up 6 v 3 going into the third round, but the Dragons made sure to let the Wanderers know they were still in business with a quick win from Cathie and Ben. Wanderers came away victorious though taking another 3 wins in the last round for an overall victory of 9 v 6 – the first win for the Wanderers in this season. Notable performances Lance (3 wins, and a 102), Dave (3 wins, and a 132), Paula (2 wins, T),  Gav (2 wins, and a 127). Some great performances from the ladies with Cathie, Paula, Carol and Elyse taking wins on the night. And shout out to the Wanderers where every team member took a win.

Jockys 8 v The Links 7 Match Stats

What a tight game! These fierce rivals had a battle on their hands to see who would take the 2 points this week. Neither side was willing to give an inch! True to form from both of these teams, there was a smattering of tonnes across the bench, so we can be sure that some of these games ended on a knife-edge. Solid pairing Pat and Newty kicked off the Jockys night with a doubles win, as did sharp shooters Rupen and Pieter, and Yash and Ben. The Jockys were quick to fire up in the second round, stealing a nice 4 game win thanks to Pat, Newty, Peter and Matt. The Links made sure to steal a few back though to keep the win within eye shot with 2 great performances by Pieter and Ben who took their games 2-0. The teams went into the third round 5 v 4 in favour of the Jockys. It looked like the tide was turning with Ben and Rupen took the first 2 games in the third round, but Pat brought the Jockys a timely win in the third game. We were now 6 all. Matt stepped up to the plate against Antoinette, who made him work for it! Although Matt took the win, it went to 3 legs so it must’ve been a fierce fight. The Jockys only needed one more to win the night and Newty brought home the bacon for the Jockys. It could’ve gone either way! Look forward to seeing these 2 teams face off again next time!

Mustangs 9 v Misfits 6 Match Stats

*report*

BNSDC – 2018 – Week 20

A GRADE Season 1 Finals Week 2

Seagulls 11 v Nek Minit 8

Another great semi here at the Brook. Stung by their defeat last week, Seagulls were out to prove a point and book a Grand Final spot against the Scorpions. Nek Minit was on a high from their nail-biter win last week against a gallant Pinoy. With a 2-1 lead from the doubles, Seagulls fired up by winning 4-2 in the first singles. This seemed to sting the Nek Minit team somewhat and couldn’t match the Gulls in the second singles going down 4-2 again. This would leave only one game standing between Seagulls and a Grand final berth. Nek Minit with a never say die effort, took 3 of the first 4 singles. This was almost a repeat of their previous semi and perhaps saw a glimmer of a chance. Unfortunately for Nek Minit, the Seagulls rallied to polish off the night with a couple of games to spare. A worthy final with both teams performing well. Commiserations to Nek Minit and we will see you in season 2 no doubt. Congrats to the Gulls and now, it would seem, it’s time for revenge on the Scorpions perhaps in the grand finale. Best of luck and may the best team win.

Premier League Season 2 Round 3 Full Ladder

Even though it’s very early, this season seems to be shaping into one where teams that have missed out on finals spots in the past are throwing their names into the mix this time around.

Bears 10 vs Motley Mustangs 10 Match Stats

Without a doubt the Motleys best ever result against this strong Bears outfit at the Brook and one that they had to fight for every step of the way.  Bears got away to great start and cruised to a 5-1 lead but Mustangs immediately got back on level terms at 5 apiece.  From there Bears were able to open up a couple of two game cushions but, again Mustangs kept closing them down.  At 9-all with the doubles to come it would seem that a draw is the fairest result and on this occasion that’s what we got.

Two Bears chalked up 5 wins each: Horse (5 140s, a 180) and Azza who it an 18 darter and a very sweet 158 peg, the highest of season two at this moment, while Shaz added another 17 darter to her collection.

Mustangs had vital contributions from all 5 but none more than Willy with 4 circles and a 154 peg with Stephen picking up 3 wins and Glen hitting 2 maximums.

Dragoffs 14 vs Imports 6 Match Stats

Dragoffs started well and were able to maintain a good cushion all the way to the finishing line thanks to a strong team effort.  Five wins each for Richard and Max, who hit 3 140s and a 17 darter, with 4 each for Gabe and Norths newcomer Daemon.

A solid contribution from Daral with 3 singles wins from 4 with Nev winning twice with a 17 darter and a 103 peg in there as well.

Scorpions 11 vs Raptors 9 Match Stats

A high-quality match that really had everything: the closest of finishes, power scoring, big checkouts and lots of low games.

After sharing the opening doubles Raptors pushed out to a 2 game lead which they held until the halfway stage at which point Scorpions tied things up.  From 6-all onwards every pair of singles games was split one each leaving it on the nine-all knife edge with the reverse double to come.  Scotty and The Machine secured at least a point in a deciding leg shootout before handing it over to Heals and BA.  This one also went all the way before the home team put away the final double and ensure both league points were theirs.

There’s so much to like about this ever-improving Raptors side whose league position doesn’t completely reflect their play.  Corey, excellent as ever with 4 singles wins, 6 140s, a 180 and low games of 15 and 18 darts with excellent support from Blades who won 3 times hitting 2 140s, a 110 peg, a 17 darter and three maximums.

The wins were spread evenly for Scorpions with four each for Brian (2 140s, a 180), Scotty (3 140s) and Heals (2 140s, a 180, 15 darter and pegs of 113 and 102).

Peeping Toms 9 vs Strays 11 Match Stats

A worthy encounter between the top two teams on the early season ladder with Strays able to keep their noses in front after taking the opening doubles.  There was never much in this one and Toms could have grabbed a share of the points in the last game of doubles.  It was not to be as Greg and Frosty laid down the mother of all markers with an opening 15 dart leg of 601.  Frosty started with a 180 then it went 134, 140, 87 and 60 in 3 darts.   To their credit Toms fought back to take it to a decider but couldn’t quite get over the line.

Greg was the Strays rock in this one with 6 from 6, 4 140s and 3 180s with three wins each for Frosty (5 140s, 1 180) and Ciaran (3 140s).

Ross again throwing some high quality darts with 4 wins, 4 140s and 4 low games (1 x 15, 3 x 18) and four wins also for Kingy (3 140s, 1 180s).  Sam continues to show he can be a match for anyone by closing out one of his games of singles with pegs of 120 and 106.

B GRADE Season 2 Week 2 Full Ladder

Wanderers 6 v The Links 9  Match Stats

Old rivals faced off tonight – the wooden spooners vs the team who were equal chance for taking the win in Season 2. The Wanderers settled in at their sparkly new home ground and came ready with their game faces, and the Links came prepared to continue their solid winning streak from last season. The Wanderers had a good start, 2 doubles wins went in the bag thanks to star duos Lance and Dave, and ladies night for Carol and Elyse. Yash and Harsh took their game to the 3rd leg against Snow and Christian though and came away with the win. The second round kicked off and the Wanderers made sure to steal a couple of quick wins to keep the Links on their toes. But the Links came back with a vengeance in the second round, with Pieter, Rupen, Harsh and Yash taking some timely wins. The end of the second round saw both teams at 4 v 4. The third round opened and Pieter took a quick win against Tim, but Dave answered back with a win against Rupen. The scores were level. Game 3 and 4 went a game to both sides too, thanks to Harsh taking his game, and Lance with his. The scores then stood at 6 v 6. With a keenly foccussed performance, Ben and Yash took the last 2 games of the round to seal the win for the Links. It’s the closest the Wanderers have come to taking a win off the Links, testament to both teams for keeping their focus over the break.

Jockys 9 v Misfits 6  Match Stats

Well hello to the Misfits! New to B Grade but well on the right track with 2 wins in a row! Looks like B Grade has some fierce competition joining the ranks. The Misfits played the sharp shooting Jockys, who have consistently held top of the ladder positions in the B Grade. There was a smattering of ton plus scores tonight – both teams probably drilled the triples out of the board. New boards required at the G RSL thanks guys 😉 Misfits had a total of 21 ton plus scores on the night, the Jockys also had a great night with 13 amongst theirs. Notable performances go to Matt (2 wins, 6 ton plus scores), Dan (2 wins, 8 ton plus scores, 130 peg) and Chris (2 wins, 2 ton plus scores). On the Jockys side great performances had by Newty (2 wins, 5 ton plus scores) and new Jocky Matt (2 wins, 2 tons). The Misfits tooks the first 2 games in the doubles round, but the Jockys answered took a double and a quick couple of wins in the 2nd round to keep them in the game. The Misfits were firing on all cylinders in the 2nd round, taking 4 wins and leaving the scores at 6 v 3 at the end of the first singles round. The Misfits took the first 3 wins in the third round, which sealed their win for the night but the Jockys finished the night taking the last 3 wins of the round with a respectable result of 9 v 6 to the Misfits. Looks like the Misfits mean business! Both the Misfits and The Links sit on equal points at the top of the table, could we have a new fight off this season for the top 2?

Mustangs 10 v Dragons 5  Match Stats

Welcome back to season 2 Mustangs! The Mustangs turned up tonight certainly not looking to muck around. Although they were down a player, they made the most of it and fought hard to take the win tonight. The Mustangs started strong, with 2 solid wins in the doubles round, but the Dragons made sure they weren’t too comfortable and girl power double Cathie and Paula scored the first win for the Dragons on the night. Jen kept the vibe going for the Dragons with a solid win first up in the second round, but the Mustangs fired back, taking 4 wins – thanks to Graham with a classy 100 peg, and wins by Richo, Peter S, and Peter K. The Mustangs only needed 2 more wins though to take the night. Gavin and Gila held them off at the pass with a quick win in the 3rd round, but the Mustangs were too strong and took another 4 games that round. Solid performance from both teams, with notable performances from Richo (3 wins) and Peter S (3 wins). Well done to both teams!
